When heated, this material undergoes significant expansion, which in turn provides a tight, reliable seal in high temp environments. It also exhibits exceptional toughness, and maintains this toughness at temperatures as high as 1,800°F (982°C).
We use an Atom Flashcutter system to create vermiculite gaskets with exceptional precision and repeatability. This state-of-the-art, CNC-powered device can hold tolerances within ±0.008”, and can cut gaskets from material as thick as 1/2”.
