Viton Rubber Gaskets from the Experts
Viton, also known as FKM, is a synthetic rubber and fluoropolymer elastomer that provides excellent resistance to oils, fuels, lubricants, most mineral acids, and many other common chemicals. It exhibits low permeability, good resistance to compression set (even at high temperatures), and is exceptionally resistant to atmospheric oxidation, UV exposure, weather, and fungus/mold growth.
Delmar Company will work with you to determine if FKM is the best material for your needs, or if another rubber gasket material would be better suited to your unique application. A number of factors influence material selection, including process temperatures and pressures, chemical compatibility, sealing capabilities, and more.
We utilize a series of questions, which we call STAMP, to help find the right material for your gasketing application. Please keep the following questions in mind when specifying your standard or custom gaskets:
- S: Size of the gasket
- T: Temperature range in which the gasket will be used
- A: Application—is it a flange? a valve? a pump? etc.
- M: Media—what will the gasket prevent from leaking?
- P: Pressure range in which the gasket will be used
